Please, choose a quote (from a movie, book, etc.) that best describes you.
“I am a part of all that I have met. (…) Oh, I bite, I bite on life like a sharp apple. Playing it like a fish, I am happy. And what is happy? It is a going always on. There is something better to be done that I have done, and spurred by the fair delusion of progress, I will seek to progress, to whip myself on, to more and more - to learning. Always” - Sylvia Plath
When did you start your studies and why did you choose the University of Miskolc?
I started my studies in September of 2022. I chose University of Miskolc because the Anthropology Masters Program matched what I was looking for when searching for a graduate school.
What are the places and activities that an international student should definitely try in Miskolc?
Walking in Miskolctapolca, eating a pizza at Pizza Kávé Világbéke, going to Lillafüred and having a beer at Grizzly’s.
What are/were your biggest challenges during your studies and how did you overcome these challenges?
My biggest challenge has been developing my thesis research. I’m working with the social complexities of wine production, multispecies relations and climate change; To do that, I need to talk with farmers and wine makers. But, because I am not Hungarian, I don’t speak Hungarian and I’m new in the country, it has not been so easy to do it. But what has been helping me is being able to talk with people without being scared, to make connections with Hungarian professors, students and native people, who I eventually met during my stay in Hungary.
What skills and benefits have you already gained from studying at the University of Miskolc?
Diplomatic skills, English skills, applied anthropology knowledge, Hungarian culture knowledge.
How do you think your Miskolc University degree will help you in your life and career?
I think it can give complexity to my curriculum and its already broadening my understandings of life.
What is the most important thing or advice you would recommend to active/future students of the University of Miskolc?
I would advise them to be open and to look around, not ahead.
If you could choose a superpower, what would it be and how would you use it to help active/future students of the University of Miskolc?
Tele-transport: with that I could be in different places in less time and connect with more people.
