CALL FOR APPLICATIONS FOR PHD STUDENTS
FOR PART-TIME STUDIES OR TRAINING ABROAD
in the form of Short-term MOBILITY


The aim of the call:

Short-term, foreign, physical mobility of UM PhD students with the purpose of scientific research and professional experience closely related to their studies.

Eligible applicants:
PhD students at the University of Miskolc are entitled to apply for short-term part-time studies or training if they have active student status at the time of submitting the application and at the time of the mobility.

Time to complete the mobility:
From announcement until 30 June 2024.

Duration of the mobility (physical) period:
5 - 30 days + 2 travel days (max. 4 travel days in case of green travel)
For SCY scholarship holders maximum 10 days.

Form of mobility:
Physical, but can be supplemented with a virtual element. Virtual mobility does not involve financial support.

Part-time studies:
The host party is a partner university of UM in an Erasmus+ Programme Country. The list of partner universities is presented in the Excel table: http://erasmus.uni-miskolc.hu/hova-utazhatok. Subject completion is not compulsory in the study system of the host institution, this type of credit acquisition is not expected. Research at a higher education institution for dissertation can be supported. The proposed activity and related credits, if relevant, must be indicated in the Learning Agreement for Studies. The scientific activity completed during the mobility must be confirmed by the host institution with the Confirmation of Short-term PhD Mobility document.

Training:
The choice of host institutions is wider than in the case of part-time studies.

  1. a partner university of UM in an Erasmus+ Programme Country.
  2. in addition to partner universities of UM, any higher education institution from an Erasmus+ Programme country holding an Erasmus Charter for Higher Education (ECHE).
  3. not only higher education institutions, e.g., a research institute, in which case ECHE is not a requirement.

The application requires the signed Learning Agreement for Traineeships. The scientific activity completed during the mobility must be confirmed by the host institution by filling in the Confirmation of Short-term PhD Mobility document.

Host institutions:
The host institution for both part-time studies and traineeships must be chosen with the recommendation and approval of the supervisor. The selection also involves prior consultation (oral and written) with the host party on the mobility concerned, i.e. date of mobility, mobility activity.

The application will be submitted online as follows:

  1. filling out the Application form,
  2. uploading attachments:
    1. Certificate of student status
    2. Professional plan prepared by the applicant, which is also the supervisor's letter of recommendation.
    3. Learning Agreement for Studies or Learning Agreement for Traineeships signed by the faculty Erasmus+ coordinator, the applicant and host institution.

Evaluation of applications, decision:
Submitted applications are evaluated by the Erasmus+ Committee based on the professional plan and the supervisor's recommendation.

The expected date of the decision is 15 days from the submission of the application.

Erasmus+ scholarship winners:
With the supported applicants, the university signs a Grant Agreement. The awarded grant will be transferred to the applicant in one lump sum.
By signing the Grant Agreement, the beneficiary undertakes to:

  1. complete the Learning Agreement for Studies or Learning Agreement for Traineeships,
  2. the academic-professional supervisor of the host institution confirms the completed activity by filling out the Confirmation of Short-term PhD Mobility document,
  3. submit the signed Confirmation of Arrival/Departure documents together with the documents listed above upon returning to UM.
  4. fulfil the obligations of the Grant Agreement.

Travel allowance:
For short-term doctoral mobility, Erasmus+ does not provide travel grants.


Additional supports under specific calls/documents:

  1. Green travel:
    Students may receive additional support for green travel, if the students do not travel by plane but in an environmentally friendly way, e.g., by train, bus, or carpooling. For green travel, the student is entitled to a single contribution of EUR 50 and for living expenses for up to 4 days of travel. The method of travel must be documented by the student (bus ticket, train ticket, transfer receipt). When traveling by carpooling, you must fill out a criminal statement.
  2. Additional financial support for student with fewer opportunities:
    EUR 100/150+ travel allowance
    For short-term student mobility, the amount to be awarded is top-up support of EUR100 (for mobility of 1-14 days) or EUR150 (for mobility of 15-30 days), in addition to the Erasmus+ mobility grant. The Additional financial support for student with fewer opportunities can be applied for simultaneously with the Additional financial support for students with disabilities or long-term illnesses.
    For short-term doctoral mobility travel allowance is granted only if the student's application for Additional financial support for students with fewer opportunities is supported by the TPF, the student will receive the following travel allowances:
