16. November 2016. 11:25

The forint came into use 70 years ago, and to commemorate this outstanding event a spectacular exhibition opened on 17 October on the ground floor of Building A/4. The collection, which can be viewed until 27 November, displays not only the history of the Hungarian currency but also technologies involved in the production of bills and the tokens known as “mine money”.

Our university is the first stop in the travelling exhibition outside of Budapest. Dr. Ferenc Gerhardt, Deputy-Governor of the Central Bank of Hungary, officially opened the exhibition. A conference, “From the Florenus to the Bémaller”, was also held on this occasion, with two sections (the history of money and the history of technology) and nine lectures, giving the audience a glimpse into the history of the currencies of Hungary. Highlights are shown in the video.
