5th Summer School for Welding

The 5th Summer University for Welding, held 7-9 July, was organised at the University of Miskolc by the Youth Forum of the Hungarian Association of Welding (MAHEG) and the Institute of Materials Science and Technology of ME. The aim was to provide a chance for students interested in the field of welding to gain information and get to know each other. Around 50 students from five Hungarian universities participated in the event, with some of their costs being borne by the sponsors of the event (Crown International Kft., GEIK-HÖK, Froweld Kft., Migatronic Kft. and Rechnen Hegesztőház Kft). 

 

The main focus of the Summer School was on welding high-strength steels and aluminium alloys. Participants took part in lectures and also in practical demonstrations, thanks to industrial partners. The practical side was further strengthened by a course on the steps of technological design/planning held by welding engineers from sponsoring companies. There were also recreational and cultural activities where informal exchanges of information could take place.  

 

The next event in the Youth Forum of MAHEG will be the 3rd Young Welders Conference, to be held on the Székesfehérvár campus of Óbuda University.
