A consortium of four regional Hungarian universities headed by the University of Miskolc will carry out a new project aiming at research, development and innovation in the field of sustainable management of raw materials. The consortium, made up also of the Universities of Szeged, Pécs and Sopron is to focus on the use of secondary raw materials – waste and scrap materials – and the technological development and energy management needed for this purpose.
Another activity of the project is to organize a system for integrating the currently scattered data on the secondary raw materials capacity of Hungary and relevant know-how from the partner universities. The institutions will create an integrated research team to utilize the shared resources and manage the project.
Raw material management is of key importance to the processing industry in Hungary, and its development and sustainability is the main aim of the project, supported by 1.4 billion forints in funding from the EU.
