Paks II Academy

30. May 2019.

A cooperation agreement was signed on 29 May between Paks II. Zrt. – the company responsible for construction of the new nuclear power plant units. The cooperation means that ME students can take part in the Paks II Academy. From September, students with a BSc in engineering can take part in a specialised post-graduate training course in nuclear power plant operation engineering.

There is a great need for properly-qualified experts in every field, and also in the nuclear power industry. For Paks II. Zrt. it is important to have a highly trained labour force, which is why they created Paks II Academy to provide a quality programme for university students.

Paks II. Zrt. worked out the materials for the course in collaboration with Budapest University of Technology and Economics, the University of Debrecen, the University of Dunaújváros, the University of Miskolc, Pannon University and the Univerity of Pécs. In addition to receiving financial support from Paks II. Zrt, the six universities can offer the new post-graduate training course in nuclear power plant operation engineering through the Paks II Academy.

The two-semester post-graduate training course offers knowledge that can be put to practical use in this segment of the energy sector. Participants can gain a wide range of knowledge about nuclear power technologies, operational processes, the basics of nuclear safety and safe operation of nuclear power plants. The programme starts this autumn and can be applied to through normal application procedure. A bright future awaits those who complete the programme in a branch of industry that will play a special role in both the Hungarian and the international energy sector in the decades to come.
