Mr. LU Xu Zhong and two of her colleagues, representing the Embassy of the People's Republic of China, visited Miskolc, the campus, in mid-July. The diplomat in charge of culture and education reviewed the results of the work of the past years. The leaders and staff of the Confucius Institute presented the results achieved by the University of Miskolc, as well as the plans and ideas.

Prof. Liu Jie, Director of the Institute, summarized how language teaching is conducted at the Confucius Institute; with special regard to the two new partner schools (in Edelény and Mezőkövesd). The parties discussed experiences in addressing the challenges posed by the special health situation, as well as future challenges for digitization. The meeting was made even more interesting by animations and videos by Wang Zhichun (Andrea) showing the students ’previous achievements.

Liyun Fan (Kriszti) and Xiaoyan Qin (Joy) were recognized as “excellent educators and teachers” for their outstanding performance throughout the year, for their exemplary work. The certificates of appreciation were handed over by attaché LU Xu Zhong. Finally, the celebrations were greeted by Dr. Dániel Kuttor, the Hungarian director of the Confucius Institute.

LU Xu Zhong was hosted in office by the Rector of our university, Prof. Dr. András Torma. The parties expressed their joy that during the more than six-year period of operation, the parties have cooperated well, resulting many educational and cultural programs.

The cooperation of the three founding members (University of Miskolc, Beijing University of Chemical Technology (BUCT) and BorsodChem-Wanhua) is special and unique globally; and it still has many opportunities in the fields of culture, education and industry. It was said that despite the institutional changes, the future is guaranteed and the parties want to continue the work started in 2013.

After lunch, a brief consultation was held with BorsodChem-Wanhua staff. The meeting provided an opportunity for an honest exchange of views on the form of future institutional cooperation. One of the largest chemical investors and employers in our county is also committed to maintaining and expanding educational capacities.

We hope that we can close the coming years with success and outstanding results!
