SCHOLARSHIPS GIVEN FOR OUTSTANDING MARKS

29. June 2021.

Around 100 UM students in dual training courses received scholarships totalling 22 million forint supported by the Dual Drive University grant.

Prof. Zita Horváth, the rector, spoke about the dual training courses – UM was the first on a higher education level – and the proof of their worth. The aim is to train students with hands-on skills as well as theoretical knowledge for the labour market in the hope that they will remain in the North Hungary region and contribute.

Representatives of partner companies confirmed that the dual training courses bring benefits both to the firms and the students.

Béla Szabó-Lukovszki, Joyson Safety Systems Miskolc plant manager, stressed that one important aspect is the contact between students and workers with years of experience behind them. Marianna Szabó, Director of HR Services at BorsodChem Zrt., reported that several former dual training students are now working for the company, starting out with a big advantage due to their knowledge of company operations. Mariann Tóth Vankucz, HR manager at Bosch, stresses that professional skills and soft skills are both important, and students who gain experience in various fields have a head start when choosing a career. Dr. Dmour Hazim, who coordinates dual training at MOL Nyrt, said that the company needs workers with practical skills, and is pleased that the number dual training students is increasing. He acknowledged the high level education gained here; around 60% of experts in the firm are graduates of UM.
