OUTSTANDING RESEARCHER AWARDS

12. November 2021. 11:30

As part of the national series of events celebrating the Festival of Hungarian Science, UM recognised the achievements of 65 university researchers, among them PhD students.

Rector Horváth spoke about the role of academic publication in the data used to rank universities globally, and the increasing number of qualifying publications and citations, especially considering that a great deal of time and energy go into teaching, leaving fewer opportunities for research.

Prof. Vanda Lamm represented the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, speaking about its role in encouraging research at various levels.

Prof. György Kaptay, chairman of the Academic Council, explained the selection process for the awards, which is based on the number of citations listed in the Scopus database within a given period. This involved collecting the data for 3,598 independent citations; two university employees were also recognised for their efforts in data collection and processing.
