NEW LEGAL SPECIALISATION COURSE: ANIMAL WELFARE

23. February 2022. 15:45

A new postgraduate specialist training course is being offered from September 2022, the first of its kind in the nation. It will be held in cooperation with the University of Veterinary Medicine Budapest to cover the topic of animal welfare, a borderline area between the law and veterinary science.

Prof. Sótonyi, rector of the Budapest institution, announced that it will be offering a course for veterinarians, while UM focuses on training lawyers. By approaching the topic from both directions, it is hoped that animal welfare cases can be handled by properly trained specialists to provide rapid improvement in the capacity to ensure good treatment for animals.

The UM course is intended for those with legal degrees who wish to gain specialised knowledge in the medical, psychological, communications, economic, sociological and anthropological aspects of animal welfare, in addition to in-depth knowledge of the relevant laws.
