The University of Miskolc will also be taking an active part in the newly formed UniSpace consortium of 16 Hungarian universities, which aims to offer a variety of three-semester-long post-graduate courses for holders of bachelor or higher degrees, some of which will be offered in English.

The consortium was announced at a press conference, where Péter Sztáray, State Secretary for Security Policy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary, said that last summer the government adopted the first Hungarian space strategy, and one significant element of it is to support the work of researchers working on or interested in relevant topics. He said that the aim of organising universities into a consortium is to make them more aware of each other's activities and to pool the activities of the various research groups.

Gergely Deli, rector of the University of Public Service (NKE), which is acting as the overall coordinator for the consortium, explained the agreement among the universities to begin post-graduate training in four disciplinary areas: natural sciences (led by ELTE), biosciences (University of Debrecen), engineering and IT (BME), and social sciences (NKE).

The Ministerial Commissioner for Space Research, Orsolya Ferencz, told the press that UniSpace is a unique higher education product: the three-semester specialised training course will help bring together the various branches dealing with the space sector. She stressed that there is already interest in the programme from abroad, which is why it is important to launch courses taught in English.
