FACULTY OF LAW CONFERENCE CLOSES EU-FUNDED PROJECT

At the Summer Academy, national and international experts addressed practical issues related to the criminal law protection of the financial interests of the European Union and investigations. The final event of a year and a half of joint work, coordinated by the University of Miskolc in the framework of the Hercule III programme, was held at the Faculty of Law.

 

 

"Every professional conference is a celebration of science. The Faculty of Law and Political Scienceswas founded in 1981 at the University of Miskolc as a result of the socio-economic changes of the 1980s. The 40-year-old initiative has taken root and the results are visible not only in Central Europe but also in the whole of Europe", said Prof.  Zita Horváth, UM’s Rector, in her opening speech at the international conference.

In addition to Hungary, experts from seven other EU Member States participated in the joint work, as Prof. Csilla Csák, Dean of the Faculty of Law, emphasised in her welcome speech. that Hercule is an outstanding international project the joint work within the framework of the Hercule III project is the second successful EU-funded cooperation. She added that international conferences are a significant part of the faculty's institutional development strategy, demonstrating and underlining the importance of the research and teaching work carried out at the faculty.

Prof. Péter Polt, Attorney General, shared a personal experience with the audience. He said that 20 years ago, when Hungary was not yet a member of the European Union, Prof. Dr. Ákos Farkas organised a conference at the University of Miskolc.
