ANTICIPATION…DID I GET IN?

05. August 2022. 11:00

This year the University of Miskolc hosted the “Point There Party” (Pont Ott Parti) to mark the announcement of the admission scores for entrance to all Hungarian universities. This is when students learn whether they have enough points to gain a place in their desired university and course of study.

The University of Miskolc prepared for the 2022 admission score announcement with light-hearted introductory programmes, youthful concerts and a series of free programmes. Miskolc's Pont Ott Party was held for young people on the UM campus on 21 July from 5 pm to 11 pm.

In a picnic-style festival atmosphere, this year's applicants could wait for the announcement in the closed parking lot next to the main building of the University of Miskolc and the green area next to it. There was a big stage with concerts, entertaining shows and panel discussions. In the park, the eight faculties of the University of Miskolc presented themselves on small picnic islands, and prospective students and interested visitors could also get acquainted with the sports centre and student services, find out about opportunities to learn foreign language and international scholarship programmes, or take a tour of the dormitories. Giant board games, beer pong, career advice, prize drawings and quizzes awaited participants.

The programme also included a panel discussion on what a university degree is worth today. In the discussion, Prof. Zita Horváth (Rector of the University of Miskolc), László Fükő, (Managing Director of Robert Bosch Power Tool Kft. and Trustee of the Universitas Miskolcinensis Foundation) and Dr. Zoltán Alakszai, (Government Commissioner of the Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén County Government Office) shared their thoughts and experiences.

Before and after the point thresholds were announced, young people were entertained by a varied musical programme, while University of Miskolc staff provided information about the possibilities for late application and career counsellors and guidance specialists gave advice on "how to proceed" situations.
