COOKING AND WRITING WERE BIG HITS AT THE FIRST CHINESE SUMMER CAMP

The Confucius Institute of the University of Miskolc organised a Chinese summer camp for the first time. With the help of Chinese and Hungarian teachers, the participants had the opportunity to "taste" Chinese culture.

Nearly 20 secondary school students and some university students took part in the five-day programme, where they learned about the spoken and written language, the basics of writing, gastronomy, ping-pong and kung fu, singing and music and Chinese dance, among other things.

Dr. Dániel Kuttor, Co-director of the Confucius Institute at the University of Miskolc, said that the young people had a good time and were active. He said that they ended the week with positive experiences and feelings.

We also learnt that the partner schools of the Confucius Institute of the University of Miskolc had already indicated last year that they would like their students to participate in a summer programme in China. The university institute provides a suitable background for this. We asked participants what they liked most about the experience.

"Cooking and Chinese writing and painting were the favourites. But all activities attracted interest and engaged the students. And the Kung Fu was very spectacular. The Confucius Institute always pays special attention to secondary schools and their students. We are happy to support the schools and help them to learn Chinese language and culture, so that they can learn about another culture and see and experience more of the world," said Dr. Kuttor.
