Dr. Marcell Gáspár, is Head of the Department of Structural Integrity at the Institute of Materials Engineering and Materials Technology, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Informatics. "Being a researcher can be a competitive career for a young person", says the new Bolyai fellow. The Bolyai scholarship is a highly competitive three-year scholarship for outstanding researchers, and Dr. Gáspár won the post-doctoral scholarship after persistently applying and steadily building up his publication record.
Dr. Gáspár graduated from the University of Miskolc with a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering. He became interested in welding during his master studies, did research and presented it at the Student Research Society events, and after his master’s studies he moved on to the PhD programme. "I had the opportunity to study for an international welding engineering passport in parallel with my PhD studies. It is a unique training, not only in Hungary but in the whole world. This means that the welding engineering diploma awarded by the University of Miskolc is accredited all over the world, since the curriculum is approved by the International Welding Institute." He completed his PhD in 2014 and then joined the teaching staff.
