In this year's admission procedure, the largest number of applicants targeted the Faculty of Law, the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Informatics, the Faculty of Health Sciences, and the Faculty of Humanities.
This year, more than 300 people applied to the University of Miskolc through the reserve admission procedure. The Faculty of Law and Political Sciences topped the popularity list, with almost twice as many people wanting to enter it as last year. This year, for the first time, the Faculty of Business and Economics has announced a bachelor's degree in sports organisation, which is a niche subject in the region's training palette, with more people applying for the places advertised in the admissions round. The Education Office is expected to announce the reserve admission thresholds on 24 August, when it will decide who will be admitted to the course it has designated.
All the faculties of the University of Miskolc have advertised places available in this year's admissions in bachelor's and master's programmes, in part-time studies and in higher education vocational training. In addition to self-financed places, there are also state scholarship places available in the bachelor, master and science courses in engineering, information technology, health and natural sciences, as well as in the teacher training courses.
The deadline for applications for this year's admissions closed on 5 August. Applications are currently being processed and preparations are underway for the professional examinations for admission to higher education. According to the data available so far, the number of applicants to UM’s Faculty of Law has almost doubled: while last year 35 applicants applied for admission, this year 63 have applied. At the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Informatics, 53 people applied in the same period last year, and 65 this year.
Similarly, the Faculty of Health Sciences, which attracted 66 applicants following its success in the general admission procedure, has also seem increased interest in its courses, while the Faculty of Humanities' new course in special needs education was also popular with applicants.
In this year's admission procedure, the University of Miskolc's Faculty of Economics has for the first time announced a Bachelor's degree in Sports Organisation, which is expected to start in September. The newly accredited, self-financed bachelor's degree course will offer knowledge based on the relationship between sport and the economy to young people who want to participate in the work of sports associations and the establishment of sports businesses. Prospective students are also expected to participate in the organisation of the European University Games, which will be jointly organised by the University of Miskolc and the University of Debrecen in 2024.
At the current stage of the admission procedure, the Education Office is processing the documents submitted with the applications. It is very important that applicants keep an eye on the e-mail address given on the felvi.hu e-admission channel, as any notifications and invitations to submit a reserve application will be sent to this address. Candidates for Master's degree courses will receive the invitation letters for the entrance exam from the institutions, which have been sent out by the University of Miskolc in the last few days.
The Office of Education is expected to announce the admission thresholds on 24 August 2022. However, applicants may be guided by the statute that the point thresholds for the courses announced in the reserve admission procedure cannot be lower than the point threshold set on 21 July if the course was launched earlier by the institution in the general procedure. If the course has not been published in the general procedure - at the University of Miskolc this is the case for the bachelor's degree in sports management - the minimum score to be achieved is 280.
