In recognition of the academic and educational activities that strengthened the national and international reputation of the University of Miskolc and in appreciation of the work done for the university’s community, awards were presented at the public Senate meeting of UM on 31 August.
At the ceremony, Dr. Maria Nowicka-Skowron was awarded an honorary doctorate in recognition of her internationally outstanding work in developing professional relations between UM and Częstochowa University of Technology.
Dr. Christian Landschützer was awarded the title of "Professor Honoris" for his active contribution to strengthening the educational and research links between UM and Graz University of Technology.
The title of "Honoured Citizen of the University of Miskolc" was awarded to Gabriela Paszkowska, Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Geoengineering, Mining and Geology at the Wrocław University of Science and Technology.
The University’s Senate honoured the work of the lecturers who had received state honours, scientific, professional or public awards or academic degrees in the previous academic year with a certificate of recognition.
In her closing speech, the rector, Prof. Zita Horváth, praised the teachers for their professional successes, academic achievements and national awards and referred back to this when she concluded her speech with the words of a German historian, Leopold von Ranke: "The ultimate aim a man can achieve in this world is to serve the community with professional knowledge."
