A doctor with electrical engineering skills

Dr. János Martos, Head of the Department of Clinical Radiology at UM’s Faculty of Health Sciences, was awarded the Knight's Cross of the Hungarian Order of Merit for his work in the field of medical imaging diagnostics on 20 August.

Dr. Martos said that he hadn’t expected the recognition, because he thinks of his daily work as a natural task. But he added the fact is that radiographers who perform CT (computed tomography), MR (magnetic resonance) and X-ray examinations must have in-depth medical and technical knowledge, the most important and difficult part of their profession.

His own career in this respect has been unique: he works as a doctor, but he also graduated from UM in electrical engineering. Although he did not become an engineer, he can use the knowledge he gained in his medical career, since radiology uses a lot of electrical equipment. He tries to pass on both his theoretical and practical knowledge of these to students at the Faculty of Health Sciences.
