02. March 2023. 10:20

On 13 February UM’s Faculty of Law and the National Office for the Judiciary jointly presented the publication "Some issues of external, internal and criminal investigations of crimes against the financial interests of the European Union", which summarises the results of research conducted in the framework of the European Commission's HERCULE III (2014-2020) 2nd Legal Training and Studies Programme.

The main objective of the project was to improve the knowledge of the legal professions involved in the protection of the financial interests of the European Union by organising specific training courses and disseminating studies.

The programme involved complex, practice-oriented comparative research involving not only national but also international experts. The focus of the studies was on general and specific issues of external, internal and criminal investigations of irregularities and criminal offences affecting the EU's financial interests. It is worth mentioning that the analysis of the roles of OLAF, EPPO, Eurojust and Europol was of particular importance in the project.

The presentation of the publication was the closing event of the project, which was opened by Prof. Csilla Csák, dean of the Faculty of Law and Dr. György Senyei, President of the National Office for the Judiciary. The event included presentations by Prof. Péter Polt, Prosecutor General, Prof. Ákos Farkas, Project Manager and Professor at the University of Miskolc, Prof. Gerhard Dannecker, Professor at the University of Heidelberg and Amira Szőnyi, Head of Unit at OLAF.
