The very first Floewater vending machine in Hungary was displayed on the UM campus. It delivers pure water with no need for disposable packaging. Now thirsty students and staff can refill their own water containers with fresh filtered water, with or without bubbles. This environment-friendly option is just one more step on the path to carrying out ME’s sustainability strategy, called the Smart and Green Campus.

The University of Miskolc became a full member of the European University Association as of October. The group represents more than 800 universities and national rectors’ conferences in 48 European countries.

UM and the Association of HR Professionals (Humán Szakemberek Országos Szövetsége) have made an agreement to cooperate for the benefit of both parties, working together in both education and research, creating further internship opportunities, contributing to courses in HR, and encouraging talented students. University personnel are also expected to benefit from this partnership, which will also aid in working out new HR policies of the university.

UM hosted the first 'János Zámbó International Case Study Competition', where university teams representing Slovakia, Poland, the Czech Republic and Hungary could compare their skills in solving a complex problem in the fields of management and natural resources. The competition, held 16–18 October, was supported and organized within the ProSkills project.

You might never have heard about it, but World Food Day is commemorated annually on October 16th in over 150 countries. Its purpose is to raise awareness about the issues behind poverty and hunger.

On campus, indoors (in particular in classrooms, customer services offices and corridors) it is mandatory to wear a medical mask, a safety mask, or a mask made of textile or other material in such a way that it continuously covers the nose and mouth. The only exception to this is academic staff with an immunity card. In addition, university staff are not obliged to wear a mask in their own office where a distance of at least 1.5 meters is provided.

The University of Miskolc Sports Center and Sports Office, as well as MEAFC, are organizing the traditional Small Field Football League in this academic semester as well. Our goal is to provide regular sports opportunities in one of the most popular sports, small field football. The league is open to full-time and correspondence students of the University of Miskolc, or to full-time employees.
