There were a large number of visitors to this year’s Museum Night event held in Újmassa, with information not only on metallurgical topics (including cannons and railway tracks) but also on birding and mushrooming, accompanied by drawings of fireflies and the ancient blast furnace decorated with lights.

The cornerstone was laid for the newest UM building, the future home of the Centre for Academic Data Analytics and Archival Open Research Data Repository of the University of Miskolc. Construction is supported as a government investment, and cost of the building is around 10 billion forint.

The University of Miskolc hosted a two-day workshop where higher education leaders discussed the broadening opportunities for higher education with staff from the Hungarian branches of PricewaterhouseCoopers and Microsoft. The two main challenges are the changeover in university ownership and the effects of the coronavirus pandemic.

Dear Students, an unexpected power outage caused the Neptun system to fail. As a result, the Neptun system is temporarily unable to perform administrative tasks related to the examinations. However, this should not cause any disruption to examinations. Until the system is restored, the following procedures shall be followed:

Twenty personal computers and monitors have been donated by the university to the village of Kőtelek (population 1,600) for use by disadvantaged children.

The topic of the roundtable is Chinese investment in Hungary, particularly industrial investors in Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén County. The aim is to explore and present Chinese industrial investments, their importance and uniqueness at both national and regional levels.

This year, two rounds of the "Chinese Bridge" talent search competition took place on May 28 and 29 in Hungary. On Friday afternoon, University students and on Saturday morning, Grammar school students compared their language skills, knowledge of China, and authentic, artistic performance.

The Universitas Miskolcinensis Foundation and the university leadership worked together to draw up the new structure and operational regulations (an important part of the rules & regulations of the university), which came into effect as of 1 June. The new regulations set up more streamlined structures, better functionality, and guarantee the autonomy of the university as it transitions from a national university to a more market-based form, and will contribute to increasing the competitiveness of the university.

The National Welding Competition, held online this year, was won by a team of our students. The ten teams had to take tests proving their mastery of theory and practice, as well as in scientific and hands-on tasks developed by university and industrial partners.

Laura Burai, the UM student cellist who has entered the World Vision online classical music competition, is currently in 2nd place among the Hungarian competition, but needs more votes to get into the next round.
